TGIF – Thank God it’s Friday…
…should be TGFE&E – Thank God for Everyday and Everything
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? 1 Corinthians 4:7

Just some of the things that I am Thankful for…
I am thankful for my God that has given me life and all the gifts I have in this world. He has carried me through many hard times and provided me with shelter, food, and many happy memories of friends and family.

I am thankful for my mother who displayed such strength and sacrificed so much in her life for her children. She endured so much but never complained. I am so grateful for her love.

I am thankful for my father who, despite his many flaws, addictions and eventual taking of his own life, did so love my mother and us. Thankful for the musical talent he passed down to me.

I am thankful for my siblings who have been there through thick and thin.

I am thankful for having many good memories of family gatherings.

I am thankful for my wife, who loves me when I am not loveable, holds me up when I can no longer do it myself, dries my tears and helps me through the pain of life both physically and emotionally. I am so grateful for her wonderful sense of humor that makes me laugh when my heart is hurting, and tears fill my eyes. She is my best friend and loves me unconditionally!

I am thankful for my oldest daughter who, despite me abandoning her at six months old, allows me to be part of hers, her wonderful husband’s and two beautiful children’s lives.

I am thankful for my middle daughter who, despite me abandoning her at age twelve, has allowed me back into her life.

I am thankful for my youngest daughter who, also abandoned at age ten, has built a beautiful life as a nurse, with a loving husband and baby – though has yet to, & may never forgive me.

I am thankful for all 3 of my stepdaughters, who each in their own way, have enriched my life.

I am thankful for all the close friends that the good Lord has put in path throughout my life; from those beginning during childhood and adolescence to those as an adult; some who I have drifted from, some broken from, some brand new and yet many who I have been lucky enough to share their friendship for decades.

I am thankful for my dog, a 95-pound Labradoodle and the first real dog I could call my own, for all the joy that he has brought to the lives of me and my wife.

I am thankful for my house and the many years that my wife and I have spent making it a home that we love and are proud of because it is part of us and our hard work. It’s not just a building but a home that holds many memories and within it is love our love, laughter, sweat, and tears.

I thankful that I have healthy food to eat, clean water to drink, and that I have never known the horror of starvation that so many people in the world suffer with daily.

I am thankful for living in a country where we have so many freedoms even though we have many problems, I am still proud to be an American.

We all have things to be grateful and thankful for but sometimes we get caught up in our busy lifestyles and we don’t take the time to practice gratitude or thankfulness.

We forget about the many blessing we have and the good in our world. It is so easy to take things for granted without even realizing how blessed our lives are in a world that so many people suffer everyday through the pain of war, hunger, disease, and the lack of proper clothing to wear or a decent home to live in.

Let your hearts be filled with gratitude and love so we can pass it on to others and start healing our world. We should cherish every day that we are alive, are loved and can offer our love.

Lord, I am most thankful for your love and forgiveness. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray.

One More Thought

God’s Amazing Grace

For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. Romans 5:10

God sacrificed his only begotten Son so that we might have a relationship with Him. Without Jesus taking our sin to the grave we could never have that relationship. We are a broken, sinful people -whom God loves- but in our sinful nature we could not enter into His presence without something or Someone removing that sin. We cannot be saved without the sacrifice of Christ.

The only one that could cover our sin is the Lamb of God. Nothing or no one but Christ could ever do that. Perfection died for us, a filthy bunch of rags. We are so undeserving, but because of God’s love for us, He deemed us worthy. The gift of grace is all about God’s mercy, grace, and love for us.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, laid his life down to save us from ourselves. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Lord God, thank You for the glorious gift of salvation. We praise You and Your Holy name. Amen.
