TGIF – Thank God it’s Friday…
…should be TGFE&E – Thank God for Everyday and Everything
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? 1 Corinthians 4:7
Thankful for Modern Medicine
In June of 2019, I was diagnosed with stage one bladder cancer after a CAT Scan and other modern tests.
In December of 2019, I had surgery to remove two small tumors and then underwent 12 months of monthly chemo-like treatments.
In November of 2020, I was declared cancer free and the treatments were stopped.
Great news, what a relief, modern medicine had caught things early and both the surgery and treatments were successful.
Thankful for my Doctor
From our first encounter, I both respected and liked my doctor. Incredible bedside manner, never skimps on time and explains all options and potential outcomes…with empathy.
Of course, it helped to hear that we share the same birthday, as well as hearing his story about dealing with a major illness of his own.
The topping on the cake was hearing from him on one of my visits during 2020, that he had decided to not take a salary in 2020, in order to keep all his people employed.
This same doctor thought it would be prudent to schedule me for a CAT Scan in February 2021.
Thankful for My God Watching Over Me
Turns out that the results of my recent CAT Scan showed that the cancer has returned.
I am scheduled for surgery next Wednesday 2/24/21.
Praise for my God, my doctor and modern medicine. I pray that together, if it be His will, that I will once again defeat this cancer. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
One More Thought
My Test has become My Testimony
God comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings alongside someone who’s going through hard times so we can be there for that person, just as God was there for us. 2 Corinthians 1:4-5
The test that I am experiencing has become my testimony…because God is always there beside me making something good of my trials.
Rather than ask God why? I chose to ask God what…what can I learn from this experience?
Rather than ask God to change my circumstance, I asked Him to use it to change me.
Father God, I thankful for this life You have given me…for every breath I take…but I am most thankful for You sending Your Son Jesus to rescue me. If it be Your will, please let my doctor be successful in removing all the cancer, once and for all. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray.
