The Bible verse that says it all, for me…
Early on in my conversion I was instructed to find the bible verse that best said it all for me. That was eight years ago, and I still hadn’t come across the verse that spoke to me personally.
This morning – it happened!
I found the verse that best describes my enormous gratitude for God’s forgiveness of my substantial sinful past and that has lifted the burden of my inability to forgive myself.
What I read into this verse is that God’s forgiveness of me and my sin is planned, in order that I become an example to others of just how great, loving and forgiving my God is.
My verse is: 1 Timothy 1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
You see, for the past eight years, any time I was in the presence of a cross, I would tear up. I would think of the horror and pain that Jesus went through – on my behalf – and think, how unfair that Jesus took the punishment that I deserved…especially living in the comforts of an American lifestyle. Not to mention the incredible blessings God has bestowed on me.
So now, through 1 Timothy 1:15-17, I can finally forgive myself and move on to complete God’s plan for my life.
Lord, there are no words adequate enough to give you thanks for sending Jesus to bear the weight of my transgressions. Lord, thank you for forgiving me and then blessing my life with such abundance. Lord, I pray that you continue to guide me and use me as an example of your greatness. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
